In June 2026, I checked into the Fairmont Gold King at Fairmont Ambassador Seoul. Set within the Parc.1 mixed-use skyscraper complex located on Yeouido Island, the 308-room hotel offers direct access to Seoul’s largest department store The Hyundai Seoul as well as Yeouido Station which connects to Seoul Subway Lines 5 and 9. Nearby attractions include IFC Mall, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village and Yeouido Hangang Park along the famed Han River. Incheon International Airport is a 80-minute drive away; and Gimpo International Airport is about 42 minutes way.
Other notable hotels nearby include Conrad Seoul; Josun Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Seoul Gangnam; Grand Hyatt Seoul; Andaz Seoul Gangnam; and Park Hyatt Seoul.
Fairmont Ambassador Seoul was awarded One MICHELIN Key in 2026.
Best For: Luxury hotel enthusiasts, foodies who seek excellent hotel breakfasts, business travellers staying in Yeouido who enjoy morning jogs, and travellers seeking panoramic Han River views.
The Must-Dos: Enjoy the exceptional and lavish breakfast at Spectrum, check out the Fairmont Fit facilities, catch sunset cocktails on M29’s outdoor terrace, have canapes and evening cocktails at the Fairmont Gold Lounge, adopt Sudari home.
FAIRMONT AMBASSADOR SEOUL
Fairmont Ambassador Seoul is set within the one of the twin skyscrapers of mixed-use development Parc.1, a mixed-use development characterised by its futuristic red steelwork and glass façade courtesy of the late British architect Richard Rogers and his London-based practice Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (RSHP). Interiors continue this architectural dialogue, with dramatic red columns inspired by the forms of traditional Korean palaces tempering the contemporary and industrial aesthetic.
The hotel offers 4 F&B concepts: Atrium Lounge, a relaxed lobby space serving hand-drip coffee, premium teas, champagne and pastries; Spectrum, the 5th-floor all-day dining restaurant where twin open kitchens showcase an expansive spread of Asian and Western specialities; Mariposa, a 29th-floor contemporary European restaurant centred around seasonal Korean produce and seafood, complemented by a curated wine list and sweeping views over the Han River; and M29, the adjacent rooftop bar with an open-air terrace overlooking Yeouido which is perfect for sunset tipples.
In terms of wellness, Fairmont Fit features an indoor swimming pool, a state-of-the-art fitness centre fitted with Technogym equipment as well as a luxurious changing room with sauna and plunge pool facilities.
Like many Fairmont hotels, Fairmont Ambassador Seoul has its own resident plush mascot. Following in the footsteps of the Serene the puppy at Fairmont Tokyo as well as the Pacik the doorman lion at Fairmont Singapore, the Seoul hotel is represented by an adorable otter Sudari, a fitting nod to the city’s Han River setting.

FAIRMONT GOLD KING
Set on the hotel’s upper floors and offering expansive views of the city skyline, the 41sqm Fairmont Gold King Room is decked in warm timber finishes with a neutral colour palette and understated Korean design touches. Flloor-to-ceiling windows bathe the room in natural light during the day, with a window-side retro-style leather armchair providing a comfortable perch from which to take in the cityscape. The pantry is stocked with Nespresso coffee machine and Dilmah teas, while the minibar offers Korean beer alongside sparkling and still water as well as non-alcoholic beverages.
The bathroom features a spacious enclosed rainfall shower as well as an onyx-black deep-soaking bathtub, with the combination of differently-coloured marble textures and Le Labo Santal 33 amenities lending an understated sense of luxury.

DINING
Breakfast is an extensive and luxurious buffet affair served at Spectrum, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant on the 5th level. The usual Western breakfast egg and side selections are present together with light options such as Beet Quinoa Salad, Eggplant Salad with Cilantro Tzatziki and Corn and Bellflower Root Salad with Pine Nut Cream, but the Korean specialities are the star attractions. The spread comprises a dedicated kimchi and banchan section offering Radish Water Kimchi, Spicy Whelk Salad, Stir-Fried Anchovies, Perilla Leaves, Soy Sauce Marinated Shrimp, Stir-Fried Zucchini and Abalone; a noodle station which serves Korean Ramen and Rice Noodle Soup; and an array of hot and cold dishes such as Fried Tofu and Fish Cake Gimbap, Aged Kimchi and Tuna Gimbap, Andong Jjimdak, Beef Bulgogi, Grilled Mackerel, Steamed Fish, Beef Porridge and Radish Soup with Beef.
The non-Korean Asian selection includes Mapo Tofu, Stir Fried Egg Noodles, Shrimp Fried Rice and the rather extravagant Peking Duck with Pastry and Condiments — yes, Peking Duck at breakfast. As if that weren’t sufficiently indulgent for the first meal of the day, there are no less than two sparkling wine options to pair with your bird (Murviedro Bonita Rosé and Joie de France Blanc de Blancs Brut Réserve). Phwoar.
At point of writing, this is easily one of the top 10 best breakfasts I have ever had in a luxury hotel.

Set on the 29th floor, Mariposa is a modern European course-dining restaurant boasting interiors inspired by butterfly motifs as well as a dramatic marble bar counter backed by an enormous arched light display, its deep-blue screen shimmering with thousands of tiny pink and white points that resemble a galaxy of floating stars.
While I did not have the opportunity to dine at Mariposa, I did enjoy sunset tipples at adjacent rooftop bar M29 which offers panoramic views of the Han River and city skyline in a laidback terrace setting. The Hanabi – presented very theatrically with some gentle pyrotechnic magic – combined tequila with omija cordial and strawberry syrup for a bright, fruity-sour hit; the Cloudy Sunset went darker with Campari, whisky, vermouth rosso and Cherry Heering; the Purple Wings brought together London dry gin, violet cordial and Tio Pepe in a more floral, aromatic direction; and the Mezcal Negroni, got an intriguing earthy edge from ginseng.

Rounding up the F&B concept is Atrium Lounge, a sun-drenched relaxed lobby space where guests can enjoy custom-blend coffees, premium teas and fresh bakes such as the dainty Honey Chiffon.

FAIRMONT GOLD LOUNGE
Available to guests with club access, the Fairmont Gold Lounge on the 3rd level offers afternoon tea and evening cocktail food presentations daily as well as breakfast on weekends and public holidays, with breakfast served at Spectrum on weekdays.
During my visit, the evening spread included lighter offerings such as Greek Salad, Spicy Potato Salad, Oriental Melon & Burrata Salad and Kumquat and Cherry Tomato Salad alongside hot selections such as Karaage, Grilled Salmon with Yuzu Velouté, Spicy Sichuan Mala Stir-fried Beef and Cheese Pizza. Highlights were the Indian-tinged Shrimp Curry, the meaty Eel Futomaki as well as the commendable dessert selection – think Mugwort Gateau, Nutella Cheesecake, Carrot Cake, Egg Tart, Red Velvet Cake and Chocolate Tart – which were positively of retail quality.
Elsewhere, the beverage selection included the usual house reds and whites as well as Duc de Bar Cuvée Royale Grande Réserve Blanc de Blancs Brut sparkling wine and Upper Deeper Ark Korea Craft Brewery beer.

CONCLUDING THOUGHTS
Fairmont Ambassador Seoul delivers a polished take on contemporary Korean luxury, with Spectrum’s sensational breakfast and M29’s spectacular sunset setting leaving the strongest impressions. The Fairmont Gold Lounge, wellness facilities and Yeouido location round out the offering nicely.
With Parc.1’s extraordinary architecture, the Han River at its doorstep and one hell of a breakfast, Fairmont Ambassador Seoul makes a compelling case for a stay in Yeouido.
