In January 2026, I checked into the Park View Suite at METT Singapore. Set within a stately colonial building atop Fort Canning Park, the 84-room used to house the former Hotel Fort Canning for more than a decade before Sunset Hospitality Group took over the grounds and relaunched the hotel as METT Singapore in late 2025 after an extensive renovation. Apart from Fort Canning Park’s colonial monuments, heritage gallery and the iconic tree tunnel (an Instagram darling), other nearby attractions include National Museum of Singapore, The Istana, Plaza Singapura and Clarke Quay. Dhoby Ghaut and Fort Canning MRT Stations are both about 10 minutes away, while Singapore Changi Airport is about 25 minutes away by car.
Nearby hotels include 21 Carpenter Singapore, The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore, Pullman Singapore Hill Street, Raffles Hotel Singapore, Grand Park City Hall, Swissotel The Stamford and Fairmont Singapore.
For the uninitiated, there are METT properties in Turkey, Spain and Italy, with METT Singapore being the first Asian outpost for the brand. Sister property CASA METT Singapore is scheduled to launch along Cuscaden Road in 2027.

Must Dos: Enjoy your calm accommodations, take a dip in one of the two swimming pools, have alfresco breakfast at Canning Bar & Lounge, go for dinner a tL’Amo Bistrò del Mare.
METT SINGAPORE
Set within the historic Fort Canning Park in a conserved heritage building which used to serve as the British Far East Command Headquarters during World War II, the former Hotel Fort Canning underwent an extensive renovation helmed by designer Jeffrey Wilkes (who also shaped Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River and Fairmont Udaipur Palace) before reopening its doors as METT Singapore in October 2025. The elegant setting features French doors, blue hydrangeas, a stately central staircase, nature-inspired wallpaper, dyllic tropical foliage, creamy white interiors and dining terraces. The hilltop location is simultaneously secluded and public, meaning you are likely to see park visitors in the distance either posing for social media photos underneath a picturesque tree or snapping photos of the very building you’re standing in. When I was on the treadmill in the gym, the park walkway weaves so close to my windows that I could almost reach out to touch the similarly sweaty and bothered nature enthusiasts.
METT Singapore is currently home to two F&B concepts: coastal Italian seafood restaurant L’Amo Bistrò del Mare and lounge bar Canning Bar & Lounge. In 2026, the hotel will introduce Art di Daniele Sperindio, a progressive Italian fine-dining restaurant formerly housed within National Gallery Singapore, as well as multi-dimensional Korean grill space HANU.
In terms of wellness, the hotel currently offers a luxury gym fitted with an extensive suites of advanced TechnoGym equipment along with two swimming pools – a family pool surrounded by an abundance of daybeds and cabanas (and visible from a distance to the envious eyes of Fort Canning Park trekkers) as well as a more private lap pool one level below. In mid-2026, METT Singapore will unveil further wellness facilities – you can expect a cold plunge, sauna and steam room together with outdoor padel and pickleball courts – as well as Madison House, a private members club with programming focused on culture and community. Madison House will also house The Longevity Suite, a European advanced longevity and biohacking concept with a long waiting list.

PARK VIEW SUITE
Overlooking panoramic views of Fort Canning Park, the 95sqm Park View Suite is decked in creamy white interiors and marble textures, with luxe residential touches such as warm cove lighting; a six-seater dining table with orchid centrepiece; a walk-in wardrobe and an additional closet with bi-fold doors; an automated drapery system with blinds bearing nature motifs for that extra design flair; as well as a Dyson Supersonic Nural Hair Dryer which purportedly prevents heat damage to your hair. The sofa is suitably cosy for an afternoon with the latest bestseller or flipping through the numerous statement coffee table books in the suite, while the bedside is fitted with power outlets and USB-C charging ports.
The elaborate minibar comprises an entire collection of pre-bottled cocktails from Avantgarde Spirits (Martini, Old Fashioned, Negroni, Manhattan – the gang’s all here); spirits such as Código 1530 tequila, Kavalan whisky and The Botanist Islay dry gin along with a complete cocktail-making kit and a selection of garnishes; Lavazza BLUE coffee and an assortment of artisanal teas from Singapore brand Haflong Tea; and a selection of beers, bottled juiced and canned drinks.
The cavernous marble bathroom features double vanities, a freestanding bathtub and a very spacious enclosed rainfall shower space that’s big enough for more than two. Bathroom amenities are created specially for METT hotels courtesy of beauty brand BotaNYC.

DINING
Breakfast is a semi-buffet affair served at lounge bar Canning Bar & Lounge. The modest buffet spread comprises bakes such as Earl Grey Chocolate, Olive Orange Cake and Sour Cherry Tart, Edamame Salad and a range of cold cuts and cheeses. The best part of breakfast are their a la minute offerings – think Omelette Vacche Rosse (three-egg omelette, cacio & pepe style, pecorino, black pepper sauce, prosciutto ham), Green Florentinian Eggs (poached eggs on rye sourdough, avocado, sautéed spinach, watercress sauce, ricotta salata), Century Congee (silky rice porridge with century egg, chicken, seasoned soy sauce, peanuts, scallion salad), French Toast (brioche french toast, amarena cherries, mascarpone cream, toasted almonds), Amalfi Souffle Pancakes (lemon-scented pancakes, whipped chantilly, rosemary maple) and Golden Waffle (thick-cut waffle, coconut kaya jam, salted alpine butter).
The METT Curly Rösti (crispy potato rösti, Tuscan sausage ragù, rosemary, spinach & chestnut mushroom salad, broccolini) was suitably hearty, with the additional crispy Grilled Pancetta and meaty Italian Pork Sausage (you get two additional sides) making it a grand savoury affair. The standout, however, was the Laksa (rich coconut broth, tagliolini piemontesi noodles, blue prawns, tofu puffs), with the tagliolini piemontesi noodles assertively al dente, the prawns delectably smoky and the broth arrestingly thick, spicy and sedimental.

Past breakfast, Canning Bar & Lounge is the hotel’s destination for afternoon tea and cocktails. The current cocktail menu draws inspiration from the hotel’s historic origins, with tipples such as CANNING Sling (Botanist gin, Rémy Martin VSOP, Italicus, Cointreau, cherry, spiced pineapple, lime) and Pink Hill (Patrón Reposado, watermelon, pink peppercorn, lime, grapefruit soda, fire bitters). Trading Nights (Orientalist rum, Disarrono Amaretto, espresso, rich simple, egg custard foam, dark chocolate shavings) was a Milo-kissed take on the espresso martini, while New Dawn (oolong tea-infused kay sake, Monkey 47 gin, fino sherry, peach, orange bitters) played like a heady, heavy peach schnapps for waistcoated gentlemen.

Coastal Italian seafood restaurant L’Amo Bistrò del Mare offers classic Italian dishes in a refined setting, with occasional live music accompaniment for that extra touch of atmosphere and romance. On a clear day, guests can even enjoy alfresco dining under fairy lights and starry skies.
The Vitello Tonnato (slow cooked veal, tuna sauce, capers) was quite the cat’s meow with its highly textural tuna creaminess and classy touch of game. The Tonno Rosso (bluefin tuna carpaccio, candied tomato petals, citrus fruits) was a wet, basil kissed and perkily tart affair, while the Polpo al Josper (roasted octopus, carrot & ginger purée, lime, chives) was another winner, possessing crispy skin, a pleasing saline profile and an almost fish cake-esque boing springiness of chew.
The table-side service was exceptional. The creamy Risotto Limone & Gamberi (Acquerello rice, lemon zest, Sicilian red prawn carpaccio, caviar) offered luxury in the form of oceanically sweet prawn, while the Tagliolini Lime & Caviale (L’Amo tagliolini, lime, butter emulsion, caviar) was a fine, silky experience. Both were served and portioned tableside, which was also the case with the Catalana dell’Amo (your choice of seafood from the display in the restaurant’s signature L’Amo Catalana style). We went for sea bream served with white wine sauce, caviar and capers, and the fish was painstakingly de-boned in front of us. The meal ended with the Ti Amo Su, a theatrical presentation of tiramisu constructed entirely from scratch and served with a dust of cocoa and topped with chocolate crumble.
It was all undeniably una cena romantica.
The restaurant also serves a selection of tipples, with a dedicated range of Negroni-style cocktails such as Affumicato (Botanist gin, lapsang souchong, Campari, Mancino Rosso) and Florence (Malfy gin, Cocchi Americano, Italicus, Campari, suze).

CONCLUSION
With its very unique setting, colonial flourishes and commendable F&B and wellness experiences (with even more in the pipeline with the opening of Madison House and the other restaurants Art di Daniele Sperindio and HANU), METT Singapore has shaped up to be quite the destination for immersive luxury and romance. The perfect destination for a retreat or for amore.
