In January 2026, I checked into the Premier Deluxe King at W Singapore – Sentosa Cove, which is set within the luxury waterfront precinct Sentosa Cove on Singapore’s famous resort island alongside attractions such as Universal Studios Singapore, Adventure Cove Waterpark and the S.E.A. Aquarium. The recently-renovated 240-room waterfront hotel is part of an integrated luxury enclave which also comprises the Quayside Isle lifestyle development with various retail and service destinations as well as dining options such as Gin Khao Bistro and Common Man Coffee Roasters. In-house guests enjoy complimentary shuttle transfer to shopping mall VivoCity and Harbourfront MRT Station, while Singapore Changi Airport is about 30 minutes away by taxi.
Other notable properties in Sentosa include Capella Singapore, Raffles Sentosa Singapore, Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa and The Laurus, a Luxury Collection Resort, Singapore.
Other Marriott Bonvoy properties in Singapore include The Singapore EDITION, The St. Regis Singapore, Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel, JW Marriott Singapore South Beach, The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, 21 Carpenter Singapore, The Warehouse Hotel and The Westin Singapore.
A second local W property, W Singapore – Marina View, is currently scheduled to open its doors in 2028.
The UTW (“Under Ten Words”): Reimagined, escapist island sanctuary with glorious resort pool.
Must Dos: Enjoy the refreshed accommodations; lounge in the WET Pool and perchance have a go on the water slide; use the wellness facilities at AWAY Spa; enjoy breakfast at The Kitchen Table; have dinner at SKIRT.
W SINGAPORE – SENTOSA COVE
Having concluded a phased renewal of its rooms, wellness and F&B spaces in October 2025, the newly-reimagined W Singapore – Sentosa Cove (now with a longer name to make way for upcoming sister property W Singapore – Marina View) genuinely feels like a different animal altogether. Replacing the merrymaking vibes and flamboyant shocks of electric purple and pink are soothing shades of celadon green and cerulean blue alongside splashes of nature imagery, from the coral-esque installations suspended above the lobby seating area and the rainforest terrarium set-up at the elevator lobby to the elevators themselves which immerse you in an underwater setting with jellyfish abound. It seems our former party animal is now all grown-up and mellowed.
In terms of programming, the hotel also offers a variety of guest activities, both complimentary (e.g. 10-minute Express Shoulder Massage, Metcon Training, Sunrise Yoga, Cold Brew Tasting, DJ Masterclass, Aqua Biking) and payable (e.g. DIY Coffee Scrub) along with an extensive line-up of kids-centric activities (Soft Archery, Bracelet Making, Tote Bag Painting). The poolside W Lawn is available for freeform racket and ball games, while the giant chess set was constantly being used throughout my stay.
When it comes to wellness, the adults-only AWAY Spa offers signature treatments using products from Comfort Zone and Valmont. The newly-renovated space draws inspiration from the rainforest for its interiors, with a vitality pool, experiential showers, ice bath as well as a steam room and infrared sauna for your renewal needs. There is also a 24-hour FIT fitness centre.
And then there is their amazing pool – the 1,338 sqm WET Pool, one of Singapore’s largest and arguably the best outdoor pool in the country. The lush greenery and proximity to the marina and yachts give the pool area a wonderfully overseas feel, with classic tanning chairs and canopied sun loungers lining the pool for your relaxed horizontal-ing or poolside burger-noshing purposes. Various swimming pool floats are available for sky-facing lazing, while a headliner serpentine water slide commands perpetual queues. As I laid along the sinuous underwater massage bed, the sun’s passionate rays caressing my skin whilst underwater speakers blasted out atmospheric tunes accompanied by the laughter and splashing sounds of frolicking ang moh kids (whose exuberance frequently sent spurts of water into my face), my eyes scanned the pre-dominantly Caucasian pool crowd with its above-average quantity of sculpted beach bodies and roughly equal proportion of families and couples, and for a fleeting moment I genuinely forgot I was in Singapore.

PREMIER DELUXE KING
Overlooking the WET Pool and yacht-full marina from a spacious balcony with dining table and sofa, the 40sqm Premier Deluxe Room sports cool colours, wooden textures and plush carpets, with coastal palettes bringing the marine into the living space. The sultry mood lighting options from the hotel’s previous life have been replaced with modes of headboard lighting that are oceanic galactic, and the provision of bedside power outlets and USB-C ports are much appreciated. A coral-orange daybed with movable side table provides an opportunity to soak in the views and overseas feels with an appropriate beverage while in the privacy of your room (the balconies aren’t particularly private), while the mega-comfy Super King bed – bigger than your average – proves that size does matter.
The pantry offers Nespresso and TWG tea-making facilities, while the minibar is stocked with snacks, a box of Durex condoms (be a little wiser, baby, put it on, put it on) and a variety of non-alcoholic beverages as well as bottled lager.
Elsewhere, the bathroom features a single vanity, a filtered water tap, an enclosed rainfalls shower space and a bathtub…with adjacent sliding window next to the bed for that extra touch of voyeuristic intimacy. The bathroom amenities provided are from W Hotel’s signature MOMO range as well as Italian beauty brand Comfort Zone.

DINING
Breakfast is a semi-buffet affair, with guests seated in both all-day dining restaurant The Kitchen Table as well as steakhouse concept SKIRT. The buffet spread comprises pastries, breads and donuts; a salad station with produce straight from the restaurant’s hydroponic edible green wall; various detox juices and milk drinks, including Milo; a DIY Cold Brew/Milk Tea with your choice of boba toppings such as aloe vera cubes or strawberry boba; a Bloody Mary Station with various vodka, tequila and even mezcal choices; a buffet line with dishes such as Chinese Tea Egg, Soya Chicken, Steamed BBQ Chicken Bun, Sesame Ball with Peanut Filling, Golden Pumpkin Roll, and Indian specialties such as Amritsari Tikki (pan-fried potato patty), Mandu Wada (fried doughnut-shaped lentil fritters), Plain Paratha (North Indian flatbread) and Pav Bhaji (mashed vegetable curry); and a noodle station with customisable noodles and selections such as Dry Noodle with Minced Pork as well as Soup Noodles in Fish Broth or Vegetarian Broth. Elsewhere, the a la carte menu offers selections such as Acai Bowl, Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie, Avocado & Chickpea Toast, Smashed Avocado Toast, Crab Cake Benedict and Thai Kaya Toast.
It was a surprisingly diverse and elaborate selection. The impressively-girthed Free Range Pork Sausage possessed substance beyond mere looks; the XO Carrot Cake was suitably eggy; the Dry Noodle with Char Siu, while being sweeter than a Taiwanese convenience store sales clerk, had the look and feel of genuine a la carte; the Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie and Acai Bowl would more than please the Lululemon-decked morning yoga enthusiasts; and the Laksa was a thick, sedimentally textured and shrimpy affair that warrants seconds. My only criticism is levelled towards the Egg Tart, deceptively named because it was all soggy pastry underneath the thin, meaningless veneer of yellow.

Beyond breakfast hours, The Breakfast Table offers an all-day dining menu, with seafood-centric selections such as Freshly Shucked Oysters, Wood-fired Fremantle Australia Octopus, Whole Fish of the Day, The Kitchen Table Seafood Tower and Grilled Seafood Platter For Two.

Contemporary open-fire steakhouse SKIRT specialises in modern European wood-fired dishes with a distinct Asian overtone. The Dry-aged Duck (orange gastrique, fermented blackberry jus, foie gras) was sensational, being delectably fatty and chewy with a layer of skin with a crispy top that evoked shades of Peking Duck, while the sweet Iwate Prefecture Scallops (hand-dived scallops, smoked sweet peas, X.O sauce) was the perfect poster girl for the restaurant’s East-meets-West flavour. The Bavette Steak tantalised both with its salt-licked smoky skin and rare, juicy tenderness.
During my visit, I saw at least three candlelit birthday desserts being served. After so many years, SKIRT still remains a destination for romantic date nights and special occasions.

WOOBAR is the hotel’s lounge bar which hosts the signature W Afternoon Tea as well as a selection of evening programmes such as the After Dark bi-monthly party series and the Woobar Live weekend live music performances. The daily 4-7pm Happy Hour menu includes both breezy drinks such as Lychee Martini and Margarita and harder hitters like Barrel Aged Negroni and Rum Old Fashioned. From the food menu, the Pork & Chicken Satay and Prawns “Al Ajillo” fared considerably better than the Singapore Hokkien Fried Noodles which, served without any accompanying chilli paste and with a curiously yolky egg mix, tasted like someone’s idea of what Singapore Hokkien Mee might be like. The venue is also where Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite guests and above can enjoy complimentary wines and the cocktail of the day in the evening.
As part of the hotel’s rejuvenation, WOOBAR now boasts an extension area, W Lounge, which serves pastries and beverages using Indonesian Tanamera Coffee.

CONCLUSION
Having experienced the hotel during its coquettish and party-woo days, I must say I much prefer its new mellow and grown-up personality. The drinks at WOOBAR and breakfast experience at The Kitchen Table have significantly improved; SKIRT remains a memorable place for great steak; and the WET Pool retains its crown for being the city’s most impressive resort pool. Certainly plenty of reasons to come back.
