In 2025, travellers visiting Osaka will have three exciting ultra-luxury destinations to check out, with two opening their doors in April 2025. We give you the low-down.

PATINA OSAKA

Nestled between Osaka Castle Park and the historic Naniwanomiya Park, the 221-key, 21-storey Patina Osaka opens its doors in April 2025. The hotel is the first urban property from Patina Hotels & Resorts, a transformative luxury brand from Capella Hotel Group which has presence in Maldives and an upcoming launch in Sanya.

Drawing inspiration from the history and heritage of the land, the hotel’s design comes courtesy of Jun Mitsui & Associates Architects (Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto) and interior design firm Strickland (Marina Bay Sands, Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo, The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka). Deluxe Rooms start from around 50sqm, among the largest in Osaka. The 232sqm Patina Suite – the hotel’s largest offering – will comprise living and dining areas, a fully equipped kitchen, a private balcony as well as a steam sauna.

F&B outlets include Basque grill and rotisserie Iñaki; teppanyaki restaurant Barin; modern Western, plant-focused restaurant P72; cocktail lounge Sonata Bar & Lounge; tea house Nijiri; and vinyl lounge Listening Room.

WALDORF ASTORIA OSAKA

Set to launch in April 2025, the 252-key Waldorf Astoria Osaka (the Waldorf Astoria brand’s first hotel in Japan) will occupy the upper floors of the Grand Front Osaka South Tower Park Tower in the city’s Umekita area close to the Osaka Train Station. The hotel’s interiors blend Art Deco elegance with Japanese aesthetics, with the design courtesy of Andre Fu (who also oversaw Dusit Thani Bangkok, Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, Capella Singapore and The St. Regis Hong Kong).

F&B outlets include European restaurant Brasserie Julie; Japanese restaurant Tsukimi; afternoon tea destination Peacock Alley; and cocktail bar Canes & Tales.

Located on the 28th to 37th floors, the hotel offers 175 guest rooms and suites, including a special “GENSUI” floor which offers a traditional ryokan experience in the form of special rooms with tatami mat flooring, sliding doors and luxurious soft mattresses of traditional Japanese futons.
