THE CAPITOL KEMPINSKI HOTEL SINGAPORE
Guests will be checked into one of the hotel’s 32sqm Classic Rooms which play it all creamy colours and glossy lacquered-finished textures. All rooms boast a Nespresso machine, a work desk with built-in vanity mirror, a bathtub as well as an enclosed rainfall shower. Bathroom amenities are from the Tuscan Soul range from Salvatore Ferragamo which gives your body an atas ION Orchard-esque perfumed fragrance.
In terms of wellness, the hotel boasts Singapore’s first outdoor saltwater relaxation pool, which you can actually soak in for a bit upon arrival prior to your drinks session if you like – the pool remains open until 8pm daily. Other facilities include a luxury spa which uses Gaylia Kristensen products as well as a a modest fitness centre for your workout needs.
TWO HOURS FREE-FLOW DRINKS
The crowning jewel of the “From Dusk Until Dusk” stay experience is the two hours of unlimited house pours and spirits you can enjoy at either The Bar at 15 Stamford or Lobby Lounge. When I first saw that description, I initially envisaged the experience to primarily involve the liberal guzzling of wine, but imagine our sheer delight when the bartenders at The Bar at 15 Stamford shared that free flow of house spirits also means free flow of bespoke cocktails that incorporate said house spirits. From that point onwards, it was a one-way ticket to drunken joy division. With the venue specialising in rum, it was only natural that we had several rum cocktails such as Rum Negroni, Dark & Stormy, Dragonfruit Mojito and Daiquiri. However, given this was a proper cocktail destination (I must stress that these are craft cocktails and not simply ‘club lounge’ cocktails if you get my drift), we could not resist ordering other cocktails such as Gin & Tonic, Gimlet, a vodka-based Tiki Cocktail with Asian flavours and spices as well as the extremely spirit-forward Manhattan and Old Fashioned.
Of course, one needs grub to line the stomach walls in order not to descend into loud voiced, friend hitting and food throwing revelry too quickly, and thud we ordered some bar bites to complement the complimentary drinks. The Mala Chicken Wingettes were more coy than cruel with their fiery intentions, while the Coal Charred Octopus provided chew and bright refreshment with its sesame jambu vinaigrette.
Given we had roughly 10 drinks in total, you can imagine that the value of the evening more or less covered most of the cost of the package. This staycation package is made for alcohol guzzlers, and the potential value you can reap from the free flow drinks session is immense if both registered guests really love their dranks.
TWO COURSE SET LUNCH
Your “From Dusk Until Dusk” staycation package also comes with a two-course set lunch for two at either La Scala Ristorante or Frieda German Restaurant at the adjacent Arcade @ The Capitol Kempinski. Budino Al Cioccolato & Panna Montata (Classic Chocolate Pudding Served With Whipped Cream)
Panna Cotta Al Limone E Composta Di Fruitti Di Bosco (Lemon Panna Cotta & Berries Compote)
We opted for lunch at La Scala Ristorante. While pasta portions were on the smaller side, the Spaghetti Aglio Olio & Peperoncino E Gamberi was suitably delicious, with the chopped up prawn bits being a close cousin of the prawn paste you get at Chinese hotpot restaurants, while the cheesy Casereccia Al Fume played it all trampoline-bouncy in chewy texture. For desserts, the Budino Al Cioccolato & Panna Montata was like hot chocolate but chilled and whipped into a luxuriously smooth state, while the Panna Cotta Al Limone E Composta Di Fruitti Di Bosco was teasingly tart.
Aside from only requiring you to use up one day of annual leave, the possible value you can reap from the two hours of free-flowing drinks is really staggering, and I must say that this stay package – which squarely targets liquid buffet-ists and degenerate drunks – is one of the most interesting and enticing Singapore hotel staycation promotions I’ve seen in a while.
For a limited time, you can enjoy an 18% privilege on this package if you stay before 6 May 2021. You can make your reservation for the “From Dusk Until Dusk” stay package here.
