As shared earlier this week across various travel media outlets, during Phase 2 of Singapore’s reopening, hotels in Singapore are currently only permitted to accept reservations of hotel guests who fall into any of the following categories:

i. individuals whose current place of residence is not available due to home renovation;
ii. individuals who have sold their current place of residence but have not secured alternative residence;
iii. individuals whose existing rental lease have ended but have not secured alternative places of residence;
iv. returnees who completed their stay-home notice (SHN) at dedicated facilities but do not have a place of their own as they do not ordinarily live in Singapore;
v. healthcare workers who wish to isolate themselves from other family members living in the same residential unit;
vi. Green/Fast-lane Travellers; or
vii. Travellers (i.e. excluding Singaporean citizens and PRs), including Long-Term Pass holders entering Singapore from 17 June 2020 2359hrs, and who had remained in Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Hong Kong, Japan, Macao, Mainland China, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Taiwan and Vietnamese in the last consecutive 14 days.

For the uninitiated, various hotels in Singapore are either partially or fully contracted to serve as Stay-Home Notice Designated Facilities (SDFs), Swab Isolation Facilities (SIFs) or Government Quarantine Facilities (GQFs).  However, there are some hotels which have remained firmly outside the SHN programme and have not been designated to serve as any of the above (hereinafter referred to as the “non-SHN hotels”).

Sources have since shared with me that various non-SHN hotels are supposedly already in the midst of applying for the requisite approvals from the relevant authorities for the resumption of hotel operations. The anticipated reopening of these non-SHN hotels could be as soon as within the coming 2-3 weeks. Of course, there has been no official government announcement (i.e. from the Singapore Tourism Board) pertaining to the reopening of Singapore hotels to local residents who do not fall under the above-listed categories, so those seeking a staycation getaway in Singapore shall have to stay tuned for further updates.

I would imagine hotels under the SHN programme (which constitute the significant bulk of luxury and business hotels in Singapore) may be slower to open than the non-SHN hotels for obvious reasons.

The following are non-SHN hotel options to consider once staycations are permitted again in Singapore. For those who need inspiration for where to stay once all hotels are reopened, the 2020 Ultimate Guide to Singapore Hotels (as well as the upcoming 2020 Ultimate Guide to Singapore Hotel Loyalty Programmes) will likely assist.
