In March 2025, I checked into the King Premium River View at Moire Hoi An, Vignette Collection. Launched in 2024, the 128-key property is set along the banks of the Hoai River and overlooks the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hoi An’s ancient town. The hotel is less than an hour away from Da Nang International Airport by car, and nearby attractions include Hoi An Market, Phuc Kien Assembly Hall, Bay Mau Coconut Forest, An Bang Beach and the iconic Japanese Bridge.
Other notable hotels in Hoi An and Danang include Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An, Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa and InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.
For the unitiated, Vignette Collection is an independent conversion brand under IHG Hotels & Resorts’s portfolio which focuses on experiential, authentic luxury experiences, with 20 hotels internationally and 35 additions in the pipeline. Notable Vignette Collection properties in the region include Dinso Resort & Villas Phuket and Sindhorn Midtown Hotel Bangkok.
The UTW (“Under Ten Words”): Tranquility at the heart of Hoi An’s ancient town.
The must-dos (if any): Attend the Vietnamese coffee class, people-watch from one of the resort’s riverfront F&B concepts, have a dip in the swimming pool.
MOIRE HOI AN, VIGNETTE COLLECTION
Set within a series of distinctive mustard-coloured low-rise buildings along the dreamy Hoai River, Moire Hoi An offers a series of rooms and suites with soothing garden or pool views. The name ‘Moire’, which means a irregular rippled or wave pattern on scrunched silk fabric, could be an allusion to the gentle waters of the Hoai River or a reference to Hoi An being a destination where past and present converge and coalesce. The resort is a bridge away from an abundance of shopping, dining and cultural experiences, with most notable Hoi An destinations – from well-rated restaurants and sexy mezcal bars to Instagram-worthy cafes – accessible by foot.
The property consists of two separate wings, with the resort’s F&B concepts being riverfront affairs situated near the swimming pool. There are three F&B concepts: modern Vietnamese deli and cafe The Yellow Bicycle on the level floor; Vietnamese and Asian restaurant Bistro Julienne; and poolside concept Ember & Sip which offers Western and grill dishes with flashes of Vietnamese flavours. Aside from the soothing jets of the jacuzzi coves in the pool, guests seeking relaxation could also visit Breathe Spa which incorporates Eastern ideas and traditions within its treatments.
Vignette Collection properties pride themselves on their rituals which connect guests with the hotel’s unique identity, locality, and cultural landscape, and the signature ritual at Moire Hoi An is the Vietnamese coffee class conducted daily at The Yellow Bicycle. In addition, I also noticed brochures at the reception counter promoting various Vietnamese cooking classes and experiences which are offered on-site.

PREMIUM RIVER VIEW
Offering scenic views of the dreamy Hoai River, the 45sqm Premium River View also overlooks the resort’s infinity-style swimming pool. The room is decked in wood, marble and matte textures, with a sizeable daybed facing the window which doubles up as sofa seating. The minibar is stocked with Dilmah teas and instant Vietnamese black coffee as well as a variety of canned and bottled beverages, including house-branded bottled Martinez and Negroni cocktails.
The large marble bathroom offers double vanities, a bathtub as well as an enclosed rainfall shower with luxurious Acqua di Parma shower amenities.

DINING
Breakfast is served at Bistro Julienne, the restaurant located near the swimming pool on the 2nd level of Wing 1 which specialises in Vietnamese and Asian cuisine. The morning buffet spread comprises dishes such as Beef Stew with Red Wine, Stir Fried Potato with Bacon, Wok Fried Chicken & Lemongrass and Chilli, Red Tilapia Braised with Turmeric Sauce, Baked Pork Shoulder with BBQ Sauce, Banh Mi with Pork and Hoi An Local Cakes. There is also a noodle station with different offerings daily, including Bun Bo Hue (beef noodles Hue style), Mi Quang Tom Thit (Quang noodle with prawn and pork) as well as Beef and Chicken Pho.
After breakfast service, the restaurant serves dishes such as Hoi An Duck Breast, ‘Cu Lao’ Prawn & Tamarind, Hoi An Chicken Rice as well as Cao Lau Hoi An (traditional Hoi An noodles with char siu pork served with pork dipping sauce).

Poolside grill concept Ember & Sip brands itself as an American-Asian backyard BBQ, with dishes ranging from pizzas (e.g. Korean Bulgogi and Cu Lao Seafood), barbecue & grill (e.g. Cu Lao Island Grilled Prawns, BBQ Pork Ribs) as well as steaks (e.g. E&S Char-Grilled US Black Angus Tomahawk). The Hoi An Chicken Cartilage played like a crunchy send-up of sweet and sour pork, while the Cua Dai Grilled Calamari was suitably smoky.

Elsewhere, The Yellow Bicycle offers an extensive beverage menu, including a range of both Vietnamese and signature coffees (think Iced Taro and Orange Americano). During my stay, I attended a Vietnamese coffee class at the venue and had hands-on experience learning about the origins of and preparing Vietnamese salty coffee, Bac Xiu (“white” or three-layered coffee) as well as egg coffee using the traditional Phin filter. It was highly educational – in the course of the afternoon, I learnt about the significance of the three layers in Bac Xiu, why Hanoi and Hoi An have different coffee cup sizes, and the wartime conditions that led to the invention of egg coffee.

CONCLUSION
The resort’s greatest asset is its proximity to Hoi An’s key attractions as well as its in-room luxuries, from the sizeable living spaces to the wonderful Acqua di Parma shower amenities. An excellent launchpad to discover what Hoi An has to offer.
