Why you should	InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit is conveniently located close to Thong Lor BTS Station as well as some of the city’s most popular dining, nightlife and (legitimate) massage joints. Definitely drop by Mae Varee, said to be Bangkok’s best mango sticky rice stall. The Junior Suite I stayed at was spacious, comfortable and contemporary in design (although the water in the shower had a mind of its own, its temperature alternating between hot and cold during use throughout the stay). If you have a Complimentary Weekend Night voucher from an InterContinental Ambassador membership, you may have better luck using the voucher here than at the InterContinental Bangkok, which is more established and popular between the two hotels. The hotel’s swimming pool has both sheltered and unsheltered areas, which caters to different sunshine/tan fancies. Rogues, the hotel’s cocktail bar, showed much potential with its combination of boozy/playful cocktails, sexy stylings as well as live music performances.
Why you shouldn’t	Being a fairly new property (the hotel opened end 2023), the team may need more time to gain confidence in its service software. Upon arrival, I did not receive my guaranteed one-category upgrade (an InterContinental Ambassador benefit), and only secured my upgrade to the Junior Suite after (i) seeing the Junior Suite available for the duration of the stay on the IHG booking app and (ii) proactively making further enquiries with the Club InterContinental staff. While the classy Club InterContinental offered great city views and felt suitably exclusive, the food served during breakfast (Fried Rice, Noodle Soup) and evening cocktails (Chicken Wings, Fried Fish Fillets) were decidedly modest in scale and quality, especially in comparison to my Club InterContinental experience at InterContinental Bangkok years ago.
Miscellaneous information	This is the newer and more boutique InterContinental hotel in Bangkok – the popular InterContinental Bangkok in the Ratchaprasong district is conveniently located in the heart of the city’s main shopping stretch. The Spa by HARNN offers a variety of treatments (some of which are available on ClassPass, if you have credits to spare).
