Why you should | The hotel boasts a fantastic location, being just steps away from Tokyo Station which connects you to Narita Airport, the Shinkansen network as well as many of the city’s key train lines. The hotel also offers a complimentary Meet & Greet service at Tokyo Station – a staff member greets you at the station, assists you with your luggage and escorts you to the property.
The hotel occupies the top 11 floors of a 37-storey skyscraper. The property’s 200 guest rooms are luxuriously sizeable by Japanese standards – the entry Deluxe Room starts at 50sqm. Non-club rooms offer L’Occitane toiletries, while club rooms offer perfumed Molton Brown shower amenities and additional L’Occitane and Kosé Quest products. On a day of clear skies, guests who are using the heated indoor swimming pool in the hotel’s 29F Health Club may be able to catch a glimpse of Mt. Fuji in the distance. The 37F Horizon Club is comfortable, private and boasts exceptional service and food offerings. For breakfast service, the buffet line comprises cold cuts, pastries such as Marron Danish and Chocolate Muffin and Japanese specialties such as Tsukudani of Scallops, Cod Roe and Tuna, while made-to-order selections include the Japanese Breakfast with your choice of grilled seasonal fish or salmon; your choice of Egg Benedict (think Salmon and Spinach Hayama Egg Benedict, Aubergine Agebitashi Hayama Egg Benedict or Hayama Egg Royale with Marinated Lobster Medaillion and Caviar); a wellness breakfast of Kanagawa Tanzawa Oyama “Goemon” Tofu; Chinese selections such as Dim Sum, Radish Cake, Szechuan Pickled Vegerables with Chilli Marinated Jelly Fish and Beef Noodle Soup with Braised Beef; and sweet selections such as Strawberry Pancake with Fresh Ricotta Cheese and Brioche French Toast. While the club menu has significant overlaps with the offerings at breakfast venue Piacere, you enjoy unlimited servings of anything you like at the Horizon Club but only one hot main at Piacere. Guests enjoy light bites during afternoon tea such as Lobster and Caviar Bisque Mousse, Sesame Ball and Sticky Rice Dumpling with Pork and Vegetables, while cocktails and canapes is an indulgent and substantial affair which obviates the need for dinner – think Salmon Carpaccio with Wasabi Dressing; Grilled Daisen Chicken with Miso & Red Wine Sauce;Pan-fried Cod with Kabosu and Clam Sauce; Inari Zushi; and Cantonese-style Char Siew with Sansho Pepper Mayonnaise. Cocktails such as Campari Soda, Kir Royale and the signature cocktail Tokyo Horizon are available alongside Veuve Clicquot champagne and a variety of wines and spirits. |
Why you shouldn’t | The hotel semi-buffet breakfast at Italian restaurant Piacere is a paltry and disappointing affair – each guest is entitled to only one hot main from the menu. As mentioned, the a la carte menu overlaps significantly with that of the Horizon Club, with the Wonton Noodle Soup with Shredded Chicken being one of the exclusive items not available at the lounge. Further, the Hayama Egg Royale with Marinated Lobster Medaillion and Caviar requires a top-up of 1870yen. |
Miscellaneous information | The hotel’s CHI Spa offers East Asian-inspired treatments. |
