Why you should | Set within the WATERS Takeshiba waterfront multiplex along the Sumida River and Tokyo Bay and near the lush Hamarikyu Gardens, mesm Tokyo memorably weaves water imagery into the guest experience as part of its Tokyo Waves concept, from the midnight blue accents of the public areas to the blue bath salt offered in guest rooms. The hotel also offers private balconies in selected guest rooms, a rarity in Tokyo.
Music features as an integral aspect – the hotel hosts musical showcases at the lobby every evening such as piano and violin performances, and every guest room is fitted with a digital piano. I must say, when I was having cocktails at lobby lounge concept Whisk during the musical showcase at 8.30pm, the combination of the night view of Tokyo Bay through floor-to-ceiling windows, the dramatic aquatic lighting effects in the blue-hued lobby as well as the passionate piano play by a lady dressed in a princess outfit made for quite the elegant and romantic setting. |
Why you shouldn’t | The hotel is more than 30 minutes away by train from popular tourist areas such as Shinjuku, Shibuya and Harajuku.
Also, the hotel only offers club benefits to Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite members or those who book club packages. |
Miscellaneous information | Mesm (short for “mesmerize”) is a collaboration between Marriott’s Autograph Collection and East Japan Railway Company.
