The Singapore-headquartered Aman Resorts will soon open its first urban concept in the U.S. with the launch of the widely-anticipated Aman New York in spring 2021. Set within Manhattan’s famed Crown Building at the crossroads of 730 Fifth Avenue and 57th and 5th Street and overlooking Central Park, Aman New York will offer 83 elegant guest rooms which start at 70sqm and are each outfitted with a functional fireplace.
A massive 2,300sqm three-storey Aman Spa will house two unique Banya (Russian-style sauna) and Hammam Spa Houses with their own private outdoor relaxation terraces with hot and cold plunge pools, a 20m indoor swimming pool, a 280sqm Aman Fitness Centre as well as a full experience hydrotherapy facility with saunas, steam rooms, ice fountains and sensory showers.
The hotel will provide various dining concepts: Japanese sushi restaurant, Nama; Aman’s signature Italian restaurant Arva; and wine cellar The Wine Library for exclusive private events. The Bar will serve cocktails created by award-winning mixologists, while the Aman Cigar Bar provides an al fresco terrace.
In addition, Aman New York will house the very first urban Aman Residences worldwide. Occupying floors 15 through 30, the property’s 22 private and fully serviced branded residences (including a five-storey penthouse) are equipped with expansive outdoor terraces offering beautiful open-air views of the New York City skyline, with many even boasting their own heated pools.
My personal Aman experiences are limited to Japanese properties Aman Kyoto and Aman Tokyo, and it would be very interesting to see how an urban and American Aman experience plays out.
