Tart Au Citron with Onion Ice Cream. The onion ice cream proved to be a friendly paper tiger – on its own, it starts off slightly pungent but quickly peters out into an inoffensive buttery ice cream, which you can mix with the lemon curd for an interesting slightly savoury-tasting combination, with the fried onions adding an unexpectedly pleasant fragrance and crunch to the proceedings. Dangerously toes the line of what might be considered a “dessert”, but the lemon tart aspect manages to keep the dish within OB markers (as opposed to the pizza-tasting thyme ice cream I had elsewhere, every spoonful of which I literally had to accompany with a sip of water to quickly down lest I barf like the possessed girl from The Exorcist). 3.8/5
