Chocolate banana waffle – chocolate waffle, caramelized banana, vanilla bean ice cream, salted caramel sauce and nutella truffle powder. Essentially a chocolate pound cake (!) with vanilla ice cream and sweet, gooey goreng pisang. The shift from fluffy chiffon to dense cake felt like a Lionhead Rabbit transforming into a Pitbull, and I’m undecided if I prefer bunnies or puppies. The powdery bits were like salty, sticky hazelnut candy, and whilst they do provide the requisite crunch factor and may enliven a more bland-tasting canvas, the powder does not add much to the already strong chocolate presence here. Largely enjoyable if you just have a quadrant, but expect diminishing returns when less people share. 3.5/5
